APELSCIDLA Board News – Regulation Review Process to Begin Again May 24

The Board truly appreciates the service of its PE board members. Your fellow PEs who serve on the board are generous with their time and provide the Board with their professional expertise. The work of the Board would be hindered without your hardworking colleagues who volunteer to serve in this capacity.

Board Service
Anyone interested in board service should visit the Secretary of the Commonwealth’s website at http://commonwealth.virginia.gov/Â. Requirements for Board service are that you reside in Virginia and have practiced or taught in the profession for ten years. It is a four year commitment and a board member may seek reappointment for a second four year term. Appointments expire June 30th of each year however, you are asked to continue to serve until such time as you have been reappointed or replaced.

Next Meetings
The next PE/LS section meeting is scheduled for 9:30 on May 12th. Although our new regulations were promulgated January 1, 2016, the Board has resurrected its Regulatory Review Committee to review the revised regulations and determine if there are further regulatory changes that need to be made. There is not a date finalized for this meeting at this time however, all meeting information can be accessed on Town Hall. The next full board meeting is June 9th at 9:30. Please note that all meetings are open to the public and there is public comment at the beginning of each meeting.

The Regulatory Review Committee
The APELSCIDLA Regulatory Review Committee will meet May 24th from 9:30-12:00. This is an open meeting and is just the initial meeting to review the regulations and begin to identify any necessary clarifications that may need addressed.
